74. AGLOCO Said "Walk Before Running"

Actually, this update is very important to all AGLOCO members out there. The term ‘Viewbar Stability’, ‘Website Stability’ and ‘Ad Rotation’ are described clearly by Brian Greenwald. Okay, let’s us take a look the whole post by Brian.

The first order of business is to get the Viewbar (and our website) stable – with rotating ads.

• Viewbar Stability: We will be releasing an updated version of the Viewbar software within a week that will take care of some of the remaining ‘bugs’, and we will continue to stabilize the software. If you already have the Viewbar, you do not need to do anything to get this new version, as your Viewbar should automatically self-update with it. For the most part it seems these remaining ‘bugs’ appear minor and only affect a very limited number of members. This is good. This means we can put our primary emphasis on the next phase of the Viewbar while leaving a small team to work on the minor bugs.


• Website Stability: We will be making the Viewbar software available on one trusted alternate download site (we are picking it now and it will be all set up before we send a Viewbar download “reminder” email to the Membership). This should help our servers balance the website traffic with the stress of the download process. We will continue to make adjustments and improvements to our servers in order to improve performance for those browsing (so there are no disruptions to the sign-up process for new Members in the future).


• Ad rotation: We are working with the ad server people to optimize this process. The way they initially rotated the ads was crashing their servers with all the Viewbars asking for ads, so they have needed to improvise. Now it seems that some Members are getting rotating ads and others aren’t, depending on browser settings and computer environment. They are working on solutions so their ads show up on all Viewbars, regardless of computer environment or settings. I do not know how long this will take, but we have seen a steady improvement in the number of users who get rotating ads, so it seems progress is being made.
  

Brian also took a little space to write about maximizing the Viewbar revenue. According to his post, there are actually many ways to improve AGLOCO’s revenue includings:

• Improving our search and ad revenue sources and sharing agreements. As more Members use the Viewbar, our bargaining power grows.
• Start the Viewbar targeting system. One part of this system will focus ads based on your searches and surfing. Another part of this system will focus ads based on where you live (of course, AGLOCO will need to have a contract with ad networks in each of these countries to provide local ads in local countries).
• Better inform Members of the revenue generating opportunities on the Viewbar.
• Continue to work with existing Members who have not yet activated their Viewbars. We expect that after the initial spike of downloads this process will be one of gradual adoption. New Members signing up will have access to the Viewbar right away.
• Continue to make improvements to encourage continued viral growth of the AGLOCO Membership. This includes website improvements, increased Viewbar functionality, and an opt-in Member-to-Member communication system.

From this update we can see that AGLOCO is expanding with all members and since the Viewbar have been released, the sign up is totally increase from time to time. What is my Member ID?
You can always use the email address you became a Member with to get access to your account or your Viewbar. You can also go to the AGLOCO website sign in page and click on “forgot your info”.

What is my password?
Go the AGLOCO website sign in page and click on lost “forgot your info”.

What are the features of the Viewbar? How does it work?
We’ll address the Viewbar’s features from left-to right:

Options: Right-Clicking on the “AGLOCO” logo on the left-hand side of the Viewbar brings up several options. In addition to access to the AGLOCO website and your Account page,

• Dock: You can choose to dock the Viewbar at the top or the bottom of the screen
• Skin: The Viewbar is currently available in four colors: Blue (default), Green, Red, and Purple
• Language: The Viewbar is currently available in both English and Chinese
• Advanced Options: These include a place to put your proxy settings (if you access the internet through a proxy) and your auto-update settings.

Accrual Indicator: The second letter “o” in the AGLOCO logo tells you whether you are currently accumulating AGLOCO Hours. If it is green, you are. If the indicator is red, you are not currently accumulating hours (most likely because either you are not actively browsing the internet or because you have already reached your monthly maximum).

Ad space: The largest space on the Viewbar is for a text ad. If you see something interesting, click on the ad to check it out! The ad will open a new tab or browser window, so your current browser should not be interrupted.

Search: Conduct your internet searches using the toolbar. We have several search engines available, including Google, Yahoo, or Amazon.
- To select your search engine: Click the logo on the left-hand side of the search field and a drop down menu of all available engines will appear
- To search: Type your query in the search field and either hit “enter” on your keyboard or click the magnifying glass button.

Favorites and Tools: The “gear” button has tools for AGLOCO Members. Currently, the tools are simple, but this section of the Viewbar will be expanded over time.- Favorites: The Viewbar has all your favorite websites from Internet Explorer and Firefox, as well as a few AGLOCO-selected websites- Tools: Right now this enables you access to the Windows calculator and Windows calendar. This capability will be expanded with more tools in future Viewbar versions

Minimize: The down arrow on the right side of the Viewbar minimizes the Viewbar software. When minimized, the Viewbar will be off your screen and will not be monitoring your internet surfing. You will not accumulate hours for the time the Viewbar is minimized.

Ads aren’t showing up properly on my Viewbar. What do I do?
Try waiting a few minutes, as we may be conducting routine maintenance on the ad server or experiencing another temporary issue. If that doesn’t work, try restarting the Viewbar. To restart the Viewbar, right click on the Viewbar icon (a green “o”) in the Windows icon trey on the lower-right hand corner of your screen, and select “quit”. Then, right click again on the Viewbar logo and select “sign in”.

How do I log in as another Member from the same computer?
There should be an AGLOCO icon in the icon trey on the lower-right hand corner of your screen (a Green ‘o’ ). Right-click this icon and select “sign out”. Then, right click on the icon again and click “sign-in”. The sign-in screen will pop up and you can sign in as a new Member.

How do I get credit for using the Viewbar?
Simply surf the internet while the Viewbar is visible on the screen. The software calculates the time you spend actively surfing and tallies it. The current maximum is 5 hours/month. You also get credit for your referrals’ surfing.

How do I minimize the Viewbar and get it off my desktop?

Click the down arrow on the right side of the Viewbar. When minimized, the Viewbar will be off your screen and will not be monitoring your internet surfing. You will not accumulate hours for the time the Viewbar is minimized.

They have implemented a Frequently Ask Question (FAQ) about the Viewbar and according to the updates, they would like a feedback from us (AGLOCO members) if there are something confusing with the Viewbar. What is the Viewbar?
The Viewbar is downloadable toolbar software that enables AGLOCO to collect money on your behalf as you actively browse the Internet.

How do I download the Viewbar?
First, sign in to your account. On your account page, there will be a button that says “Download Viewbar”. Click that button and follow the instructions on screen to download the Viewbar (when prompted, click “run” instead of “save”).

I am having a problem installing and using the Viewbar. What do I do?

Here are some common errors:

• Viewbar is compatible with Windows – Windows 2000, XP and Vista. Mac and Linux versions are not available yet.
• You should hit “run” instead of “save” during the installation process.
• You may have a firewall block you (With firewalls the Viewbar needs an OK for its viewbar.exe program and its update.exe program – otherwise it will not function).
• You need to put in your correct Member ID and password (if you can not remember yours, go to the AGLOCO website sign in page and request a new password)
• No green light in the Viewbar logo. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and are actively using a browser (IE or Firefox). Give it 2 minutes to connect to the database.
• If you have any other problem get a new Viewbar, you can always try restarting the Viewbar. If that still doesn’t work, you can also try reinstalling the software.
• To restart the Viewbar, right click on the Viewbar icon (a green “o”) in the Windows icon trey on the lower-right hand corner of your screen, and select “quit”. Then, right click again on the Viewbar logo and select “sign in”.
• To reinstall the Viewbar, first right click on the Viewbar icon (a green “o”) in the Windows icon trey on the lower-right hand corner of your screen, and select “quit”. Next – click on the Windows start button, then navigate through all programs and AGLOCO Viewbar – then select the Viewbar uninstall program. Then, download the Viewbar again by sigining into your AGLOCO account on the website and clicking “download viewbar” on your account page. This will give you a new Viewbar.

62. The Viewbar Released!

It's been two weeks I didn't write about AGLOCO (What is AGLOCO?) since my last post about an exclusive 'Link Train' for all AGLOCO Members. The Official AGLOCO Blog has finally been updated. In the updated, Brian mainly talked briefly about releasing the Viewbar (What is the Viewbar?). He said that AGLOCO's Team has finally solved the ad server problem and the Viewbar will be launch this Monday (Tuesday in Asia).

We have made a workaround regarding the ad server problem and we will finally be launching the Viewbar. Some, but not all, of our ad networks will be connected. These networks have enough ads on them, so we are comfortable releasing the software as we continue to work on the outstanding issues that remain with the other networks. All of the preliminary Viewbar functions are there, but with the ad problems we will not be initially launching with the personalized ad
targeting. We will continue to develop this capability after we have launched and when it is available the new version of the software will be incorporated into your viewbar automatically.

Brian also mentioned about the Viewbar that will be launch is the first version (V1.0) and it will be an automatically self updating software. This is the whole post by Brian Greenwald (AGLOCO Development Team) in the Official AGLOCO Blog.

Remember that this is the first version of the Viewbar (v1.0), and with the Viewbar being automatically self-updating software, gradual improvement (both aesthetically and functionally) will appear seamlessly (you also have an option to turn off this feature and ask for updates manually, though we recommend leaving the auto-updating feature active so that you always have the latest software as improvements are made).

This weekend the Viewbar download is being moved from the test servers to the main servers. We will NOT need to temporarily take down the web site as we had thought, so we will not be sending out an email warning on that. If the transfer goes smoothly, the first download
emails will be going out Monday morning California time (early Tuesday in Asia).

Please remember:

If you have a Norton firewall you may be asked to allow access to “viewbar.exe” and “update.exe” (please check “Permit Access Always” for proper installation of the Viewbar).

The Viewbar is currently available for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista and will work with IE (Internet Explorer) or Firefox browsers.

Just now, I have been reading a blog which was authored by R Z McCall. He did a great job to detail what he had done to make him one of the top AGLOCO recruiter and this article is about building a person trust about AGLOCO. This article also can be found at almost of the AGLOCO blogs such as AGLOCO Rocks and Malaysia Love AGLOCO.

Point #1 – Know why "Every Internet user should join ALGOCO"

1. All Internet users help create value on the Internet and should get their fair share of it – and AGLOCO has a great plan to get it for its members. If Google can afford to pay AOL 10 cents a search and if YouTube (with users doing 90% of the 'work') can be sold of $1.6 billion, then there is plenty of 'excess' value to share with the users.
   


2. What share will an AGLOCO member with no referrals get? They will get their share of AGLOCO's profits . In my personal view this will eventually be $100 to $200 a year but at the beginning much less. In addition to the cash payments members will get their share of the ownership of the company. This could be much more than the annual cash cheque due to the multiplier effect of earnings.
   


3. All Members get security and utility – There is a short list of items on the AGLOCO site, I think AGLOCO members will drive the utility of the Viewbar to become very useful for all members.
   


4. It is the right thing to do. AGLOCO is nothing short of an Internet Economic Revolution and YOU should be supporting it. That is pretty much how I say that.. (like Wikipedia is Internet revolution in freedom of Internet information)
   


5. Membership is always free and all data is totally private (no spyware). AGLOCO never gives out any member data to anyone at any time. And they have one of the top anti-spam and privacy people in the world as their Chief Privacy Officer, Ray Everett-Church, (he wrote the "Internet Privacy for Dummies" book and the "Anti-spam for Dummies" book.

Point #2 – Know why "All AGLOCO members should recruit new members."

1. AGLOCO can better serve its individual members the bigger the total membership gets. – This is because AGLOCO can get:
   Better deals with business partners the larger the network is (size matters when making marketing deals).
   Better Viewbar software (the more users the more other companies will want to connect their software with the AGLOCO Viewbar).
   


2. Recruiting members can increase their 'share' of AGLOCO. AGLOCO does reward network builders who recruit new members.

Point #3 – Know how to "Motivate new members to recruit for AGLOCO."

1. Give them a plan
   Most people use email so 'ask them when they are going to send them.'
   Most potential builders are worth a personal call or visit – ask your new recruits to list the people they now who would be good AGLOCO builders.
   


2. Give them the tools
   Sample emails
   Answers to questions they get asked (I told them to email them with any questions they get).

Point #4 – Just keep at it.

1. Keep recruiting new members every chance we can.
   


2. Keep in touch with your recruits to help the keep recruiting as well.

Actually this Viewbar news was updated in AGLOCO Official Blog on May 15. AGLOCO's Development Team finally decided to give a member who is not on the development team a chance to use and test a recent beta version of the AGLOCO Viewbar.

One of the founder AGLOCO member with more than 15000 Sign Ups, John Chow has writen and posted a video about his first impressions for the AGLOCO Viewbar (beta version). Here is the video of the Viewbar in action:

According to John, the Agloco Viewbar is a 1.8 MB download and when installed, it takes up about 5MB of space. This is his first impressions about the Viewbar:

The AGLOCO Viewbar is real and it does exist. I know because I’m using it right now. Akshay Mavani sent me a beta Viewbar to try out and give my impressions.

The Viewbar software is a 1.8 MB download. When installed, it takes up 5 MB of space. The Viewbar is not any bigger than the Windows task bar. The version I am running shows ads by Google and Google is the default search engine. The ads are not targeted at the moment because it hits only one ad server. The rest of the ad servers have not been connected.

Besides allowing us to make money while surfing the Internet, the Viewbar does offer some useful tools. It has a nice Google search box and keeps tracks of all your favorites from Internet Explore and FireFox. There is also a quick link to the Windows calculator and calendar. I’m sure more features will be added in later versions.

As soon as AGLOCO are able to finish integrating the ad servers (which has unfortunately taken much longer than expected), AGLOCO will begin their full-scale release and we will get our copy of the Viewbar through email. So, keep recruiting and expand your network my friends!

36. How The Viewbar Works

According to the questions ask by AGLOCO members, Brian Greenwald, AGLOCO Development Team, give the specifics function in the Viewbar and how the Viewbar works. Check it out!

Turning the Viewbar on/off: Currently, the Viewbar starts when you start your computer(you will be asked to login). It can also be launched from the Windows task trey by right clicking on the AGLOCO icon (a green O), and then signing in. You can turn it off by clicking on the triangle on the far right on the Viewbar (which will minimize it and stop all its functions) or by right clicking on the AGLOCO icon in the Windows task tray and selecting to either 1) Hide the Viewbar, 2) Sign out, or 3) Quit the program, which takes the AGLOCO icon out of the task tray and shuts it down completely.

Multiple Users on One Viewbar: To change from one Member to another, right click on the AGLOCO icon in the Windows task tray and select “sign out”. Then, sign back in with a different Member ID# and password.

AGLOCO Logo: The “accrual indicator” light on the Viewbar is built into the AGLOCO logo at the far left of the Viewbar – it is in the last “O” of “AGLOCO”. It is green when you are currently accumulating hours, and red when you are not. Right clicking on the agloco logo brings up a menu with lots of options (like color, docking at the top or bottom of your screen, accessing your account page on the AGLOCO website, etc.).

The other features you see include space for a text ad, a search field with several engines and a search button, and a tools button (currently simple with website favorites and some basic tools, but this feature will grow with time).

35. Testing The Viewbar Part 2

AGLOCO announced yet another delay on the Viewbar release. According to Brian Greenwald, AGLOCO Development Team, there have been problems with the advertising integration. Let's take a look what Brian said in AGLOCO Official Blog.

Viewbar quality tests are still going on. As I mentioned in the comment area of my previous post, all tests of the Viewbar have passed except for the ad servers. We had expected our testing to be finished by now, but this advertising integration is not proving easy to solve.

All of us on the development team are anxious to see the Viewbar distributed to our Members, as we are now two months behind our initially planned launch date. Still, with only one technical hurdle between us and the release, I’m really getting excited for the upcoming launch (and I can see other Members are getting excited too!).

34. Testing The Viewbar Part 1

I got this news from AGLOCO Official Blog. Guess what? The Viewbar is on the way and Brian himself testing the Viewbar in his personal computer (the Viewbar is labeled V0.53). Brian also said that there are 7 search engines in the search field. Here are the details.

Just a quick update on my Viewbar this week.

As stated in last weekend’s email, this is a very simple Viewbar (mine is labeled V0.53). But I think it does a good job with it simple functions of showing the path to the various continued enhancements that will come. As stated earlier, it looks much like Viewbar on the website, though slightly smaller (it is the same size as the windows task bar). I have mine docked on the bottom but it can also be moved to be at the top of the screen. I also tried the four color choices, and I like the default blue.

There are currently 7 search engines in the search field (I already use this to do all my searching as it is the most convenient way to search from my desktop). It has my favorite links as well as tools (calculator and calendar). I was told these tools are just there to show Members that the Viewbar will be a source of functionality (they will get more handy as improvements are made to the Viewbar). I sometimes use the favorite links menu, generally when I do not already have a browser up on my screen.

Since the release of this to Members is the most important topic at AGLOCO right now, here is the update on that:

All the final Viewbar ‘fixes’ are being implemented today and will be tested all through tomorrow. If they work correctly we should be able to move the download process to the AGLOCO site and your account page. If not, we’re going to fix whatever issues remain as quickly as possible - we won’t release a product that doesn’t work. I will give an update on this again tomorrow.

28. So Far, So Good

I've join AGLOCO on 19th March and got 39 direct and 29 extended referrals till now (yes, in about a month and a half, I got a group of 68 peoples), since that I simply set a target of at least 10 direct referrals per month. I never bothered who of my direct referral is working or not, I simply continued my efforts because I know people take time to understand this business and getting motivated to do his/her best.

I'm always trying to provide latest information, support material and developments going on the company to all my direct referrals just by keeping in touch with them. Actually this e-mail will be received by all AGLOCO members. It was sent by AGLOCO.com Service and the subject is AGLOCO Viewbar Update. Actually I just received this e-mail and setup this post as soon as possible to let my referrals and all readers know that AGLOCO Viewbar is around the corner. This is the e-mail that I just received:

Dear ANONYMOUS,

We will be releasing the AGLOCO Viewbar software soon and want to update Members on how things will work when it is released.

Each Member will get an email informing them that their Viewbar is available. It will contain detailed instructions on the download, which will be done from the agloco.com website. Members will be invited to download in groups of 50,000 a day for a two week period, with Members contacted in the order in which they signed up.

Shortly before the first set of download emails go out, you will receive an email notice that the AGLOCO website will be ‘out of service’ for a few hours – this is necessary for us to move the Viewbar download system from the test server to the main servers.

Also, please be aware of the following:

1. AGLOCO Hours: You will accrue hours in your AGLOCO Member account (current maximum is five direct hours a month). Hours are earned during active surfing on the Internet. The Viewbar has a green light on it that notifies the Member when it is accruing time. Your referrals’ surfing will accumulate hours for you at a 25% rate, meaning if one of your referrals surfs for the maximum five hours you will get 1.25 (0.25 x 5) hours credited to your total referral hours. You can only get credit referral hours up to the amount you directly surf (meaning if you surf 3 hours but a referral surfs 4, you will only get credit for the first 3 of your referral’s 4 hours). AGLOCO accrues these hours each month and also has a cumulative total of all hours earned. These hours are what AGLOCO will use to calculate cash and other distributions. The Viewbar contains a one click inactive button which turns it off and removes it from your screen at any time.

2. Initial Release for Windows: The initial Viewbar release will be for Windows Vista, XP, 2000 Pro and 2000 Server. Later, we will release Mac and Linux versions of the Viewbar. Until that occurs, Mac/Linux users can still log onto any supported Windows computer and accumulate their five hours. The Viewbar works with browsers IE 5.5 or higher and Firefox 1.5 or higher.

3. Cash Distributions: To be a sustainable entity in the long term, AGLOCO makes Member cash distributions from its positive cash flow (revenue minus costs). Therefore, please do not expect a check after the first couple of months as it will take time to collect revenue from advertisers and this revenue must exceed costs in order to make cash distributions to Members. We will be keeping Members informed of our financials and you can visit the Official company blog at http://blog.agloco.com for the latest updates.

4. Multiple Users on One Viewbar: As stated previously, multiple Members may use the same Viewbar on the same computer. Only one Viewbar download will be necessary as the Viewbar software will enable each Member to log in and log out using their AGLOCO Member ID# and password (obviously, only one Member ID# can be accumulating Viewbar hours at any one time). Please note, only one Viewbar is allowed on a screen at a time.

5. One-Time Download: The v1.0 Viewbar is purposely simplistic and minimalist, but it also comes equipped with an automatic self-updating feature. Once you download the Viewbar for the first time, your Viewbar will be seamlessly updated with new additions and features as they become available. These future features include the direct cash back feature when a Member purchases items on sponsor site and a portion of the purchase price is added back to the Member’s AGLOCO account (as described on the Official AGLOCO Blog at http://blog.agloco.com/index.php/post35/ . )

24. Is AGLOCO A Scam?

Just Think Positive
After delayed the launching for the Viewbar, I heard a lot of discussion in the net that labelled AGLOCO is a scam. Yes, it is easy to label any prelaunch program in internet as a scam as well as AGLOCO also have problems (delaying the launching for the Viewbar).

For me, I think AGLOCO is definitely not a scam, I believed in it. The releasing of Viewbar is not as easy as ABC. Though I don't know about it, but releasing it requires a lot of work. Furthermore, AGLOCO development team need to settled up with the advertisers and the Viewbar itself.

Thing can go wrong sometimes and I'm sure this company is trying their best they could. If they delayed the release, they must have some reason either technical problem or another problem as well. If every AGLOCO members have patience, things will go right. AGLOCO is trying the best, and we should appreciate it. Not by asking "Is this a scam?", "After delaying of the Viewbar, I don't want to recruit people anymore!" or anything negative about AGLOCO.

I want to ask people 2 questions. If this is a scam, why AGLOCO's Development Team worked so hard to release the Viewbar? If this is a scam, what AGLOCO get from it? Although I'm a newcomer, I've been waiting for the Viewbar too. But I won't blame anything to this company.


Why AGLOCO Is Not Going To Fail
I found this great articles which tell us why AGLOCO is not going to fail. I think it's worth to republish it here. The title is 7 Reasons Why AGLOCO Is Not Going To Fail and I got this article from Michael H. Lewis blog.

Some people say that AGLOCO will fail because most people won't make lots of money off of it. The argument says that since it is only a small minority of people who are actively trying to build huge referral networks, only they stand to reap the benefits of AGLOCO membership; the rest won't make any money and they'll just stop using the Viewbar altogether, lowering the payout amounts, discouraging others from joining and killing the program's viability. Or maybe people will get spyware-weary and not download the Viewbar for fear of being monitored.I couldn't disagree more with these argument, for a number of reasons:

1. It's a big world out there. Meaning that even if three-quarters of all savvy Internet users out there think that AGLOCO is a scam, the one quarter that doesn't is still going to sign up - and I bet that one quarter will be more than enough for a decent advertising audience that will definitely draw in some serious cash. It certainly would easily break AGLOCO's "10 million members by July 2007" goal.
   
2. The Internet grows bigger every day - and not just in terms of new users. Every day, a few thousand people who used to use the Internet simply to check their email realize that in order to keep up, they need to use the whole Internet. So they bookmark Wikipedia, create a Facebook or Linkedin page, join an Internet forum on the topic they are interested in, maybe check out del.icio.us,... and they will also join AGLOCO once one of us shows them how the "infomediary"/"economic network" is the future of the Internet. Someone like that will install the Google toolbar... why not the AGLOCO Viewbar? It's no more invasive, and it may turn out to be just as informative. Do you know how many cookies are in your cache?
   
3. Not everybody will join in order to become a millionaire. Remember that even if the average Jane or Joe has maybe 0 to 2 referrals, they still will appreciate making a small amount of money each month for doing nothing but turning on a small Viewbar that does not disrupt their Internet experience. Don't forget, if you are a savvy expert on what's hot on the web, you are in a tiny minority all over the world. Most people are grateful to learn just how to use email, and maybe perform a basic Google search now and then. They don't intend to make a career out of online moneymaking. A lot of these folks take the time to clip coupons from the Sunday paper; why wouldn't they take a few seconds to switch on the AGLOCO Viewbar? For many whose lives are 99+% offline, the concept of getting a little money just for signing up for AGLOCO is pretty nice - and it's going to be the source of a lot of money for those of us who seek them out (yes, please click there if you haven't already joined AGLOCO!).
   
4. While many people will make some money, a few of us are going to make large amounts of money, given that AGLOCO gives incentives to refer others. Those of us who do make considerable amounts of money are going to post our checks on our websites and show them to our friends, and then it certainly won't be hard to bring them aboard. I intend to be one of those who makes more than a few bucks a month. Are you with me?
   
5. Like any company, AGLOCO will be put to the test. Sure, any hot new startup can get a million hits and be the talk of the Internet for a week... but soon, the proof will have to come forth. AGLOCO's team knows it must provide real member satisfaction in order to succeed. As the development team's letter states: "Trust is Everything. We lose your trust, and the network fails. We work on behalf of the members and everything we do must keep that in mind. Our members know what we are doing with their data and how we are using it for their benefit." Now, if AllAdvantage is any indication, even with the mistakes the AllAdvantage team made, they basically did it right, because, in the words of that same letter, "We unfortunately had to close the business, even though new members were continuing to join the network" . What this means is that AllAdvantage's record was pretty good. Which brings me to my next point...
   
6. AGLOCO has a convincing history and reputation even though it has yet to be fully launched. What this means is that many people, especially those in the know, are more likely not to suddenly abandon the AGLOCO project if something doesn't quite go as planned. If those in the know stay aboard, they of course bring others along with them. Here is what upholds AGLOCO's reputation:
   

• The success of AllAdvantage in 1999 and 2000 (John Chow made $25,000 with AllAdvantage).
• The corporate experience of the AGLOCO team (8 seasoned Stanford MBAs, including several former executives)
• The fact that the AGLOCO team has many former AllAdvantage team members who have learned a lot from the mistakes made during AllAdvantage's run.

7. The benefits of membership in an economic network hold great value for ordinary folks! Do you know anybody who is a member of a frequent flyer program? A credit union? A benefits or discount program through their job? AAA or CAA auto service (US and Canada)? Those folks would sign up for AGLOCO in a heartbeat even if there were no cash payouts just for surfing. Here is why, courtesy of a blog post by development team member Brian Greenwald:

The AGLOCO Viewbar software will be capable of sensing when you are making the type of purchase for which AGLOCO has a revenue sharing program (and by potentially directing you to that partner if you are not already on their site). If you make a purchase, the Viewbar will collect the commission from that purchase. Initially, this revenue may be added to the general AGLOCO revenue pool for expenses and Member distribution, but eventually a sizeable percentage for that revenue will go directly into the Member’s account. Thus, the more a Member buys, the more money will be put into his or her account in addition to regular AGLOCO income. Without the Viewbar, that commission would simply not be paid, or might go to someone else.

One of the reasons a larger AGLOCO network is important is that these retailers generally pay a higher commission percentage for networks with more Members (i.e. those who bring more customers tend to get paid more money per customer).
